Trichloroethylene

Physical Properties:

It is a colorless clear liquid with chloroform-like odor. Melting point (℃) of: - 87.1, relative density (water = 1): 1.46,  boiling point (℃): 87.1, relative vapor density (air = 1): 4.53, molecular formula: C2HCl3, molecular weight: 131.39. explosive limit% (V / V): 90.0, ignition temperature (℃): 420, lower explosive limit% (V /V):12.5. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and ether, and soluble in most organic solvents.

 

Effect and Use:

It is a good solvent. It can be used as metal surface treatment agent, cleaning agent before painting and electroplating, metal degreasant, and extraction agent of fat, oil and paraffin; and can be used in organic synthesis and for the production of pesticides. Trichlorethylene can be used for the production of tetrachloroethylene as anthelmintic; used for the production of hexachloroethane as veterinary anthelmintic; and used for preventing ruminant animals’ liver fluke diseases, stomach fluke diseases, clonorchiasis and nematodes diseases.
